What you'll be working on…

  • Performs all duties of Laborer
  • Utilizes internal tooling and equipment to complete all leak survey activities
  • Works assigned route to complete customer and compliance orders in accordance with company policies and procedures and operator qualifications procedures
  • Deactivates gas service and assists in the activation of gas service
  • Conducts regular meter inspections, paints and maintenance of above- and below-ground gas systems
  • Completes basic tasks using hand tools, including leak investigation, assisting in mechanical joining, landscape maintenance and traffic control
  • Provides assistance with all distribution activities involved with the installation, repair and maintenance of the distribution system
  • Required to work overtime as needed
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Who you are...

  • Must have a valid Florida Drivers License and obtain a Florida Commercial Drivers License Class "B" with endorsement code "X", without air brake restrictions, within 180 days after hire and must pass a D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) Physical every two (2) years or Class "A" with air brakes dependent upon company location.
  • Must be able to write and print legibly.
  • Must be able to read at normal comprehensive level.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must have a keen sense of smell and adequate hearing and eyesight.
  • Must possess tact and suitable personality for customer contact.
  • Must be capable of utilizing telephone.
  • Must be in good physical condition and capable of doing manual labor.
  • Must be able to read street maps and travel to dispatched locations.
  • Must be willing to participate in Company provided training programs.
  • Must be capable of being trained in using all types of equipment and instruments associated with performance of duties.
  • Must be capable of reading gauges and meters.
  • Must be able and willing to direct the work of others in equal or lower classifications.
  • Must be capable and willing to obtain certification to render first aid, artificial resuscitation, etc.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be familiar with federal, state and local rules and regulations applicable to their job.
  • Must be certified to perform P.E. heat fused and mechanical joints.
  • Required to be On Call Duty rotation.
  • Must be able to pass the training requirements outlined in the Training Grid associated with this position.
