Summary
The Section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology within the Department of Medicine is recruiting a Gastroenterologist to join our Baylor Medicine practice, providing both outpatient and inpatient care at the Texas Medical Center, including the McNair Campus and Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center.Clinical responsibilities include outpatient clinics, inpatient consultative services, shared call coverage, and endoscopy, with a strong emphasis on advanced endoscopic care. The position requires independent performance of EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, and EUS to support a growing advanced endoscopy practice, with or without experience with ESD and POEM procedures. Our team is committed to clinical excellence, innovation, and mentorship in advanced endoscopy. Ideal candidates will have formal training in advanced endoscopy (EUS/ERCP) and a strong interest in pancreaticobiliary disorders.
Job Duties
Evaluate new and existing patients in the clinic setting and outpatient endoscopy
Participate in the inpatient consult service at Baylor St. Luke's• Develop a treatment plan for patients
Meet productivity benchmarks established by Baylor College of Medicine
Participate in all routine clinical meetings held with the immediate work group.
Maintain required certifications and licensing.
Become familiar with Electronic Medical Record system, enter data into EMR, and develop a level of competency to document all patient encounters.
Complete all documentation in a timely manner.
Orders for diagnostic services and referrals to specialists.
Be an active member of a clinical group practice, including educational activities such as participate in Grand Rounds, monthly faculty meetings & retreats
Share call responsibilities within the clinical group and provide medical care to the patients of other providers when they are not available.
Meet or exceed all quality indicators
Maintain professionalism in relationships with students, faculty, ancillary and administrative staff.
All professional billing and appropriate credentialing paperwork must be completed/renewed well ahead of their expiration.
Participate in clinical case reviews, patient consultations, and post-procedural care.
Engage in educational activities in the section.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical documentation.
Support the development of clinical protocols and best practices in advanced endoscopy.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education: M.D.
Minimum Job Experience: Residency & Fellowship training in Gastroenterology.
Minimum Certification/Licenses/Registration: License from Texas Medical Board certification. Board required to practice medicine in the state of Texas.
Preferred Qualifications: Fellowship traiining in Advanced Endoscospy
