Laboratory Chemist - GC-MS / ICP-MS (Cannabis Testing Laboratory)Location: Warren, MIJob Type: Full-TimePay: Starting at $30/hour (commensurate with experience)Schedule: Monday-Friday | Day Shift (8:30AM-5PM or as needed to meet turnaround times)Job OverviewMI Cannalytics is seeking a Laboratory Chemist specializing in GC-MS and/or ICP-MS to support our state-licensed testing laboratory serving the Michigan cannabis market. This is a full-time, in-lab position within a fast-paced, production-driven, and highly regulated environment.This role is responsible for analytical testing, instrumentation performance, quality control, and data integrity in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations and ISO/IEC 17025 quality standards.The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical chemistry expertise, hands-on instrumentation experience, and the ability to maintain accuracy, compliance, and efficiency under high-throughput conditions.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform analytical testing of cannabis and cannabis products using GC-MS and/or ICP-MSConduct sample preparation across multiple matrices, including reagent and standard preparationAnalyze and interpret data for residual solvents, heavy metals, and contaminantsEnsure compliance with PA regulations, ISO/IEC 17025 standards, and internal SOPsMaintain accurate records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP)Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentationExecute daily instrument performance checks and quality control proceduresMaintain chain-of-custody and accurate cannabis tracking, including destruction documentationReview, verify, and document analytical results in LIMS, ensuring data integrity and complianceAssist with method validation, verification, and proficiency testing programsSupport internal audits and quality assurance initiativesCoordinate with external vendors for instrument service and preventative maintenanceMaintain laboratory inventory for reagents, standards, and consumablesSupport sample intake, accessioning, and non-analytical testing as neededProvide guidance and workflow support to Laboratory Technicians and AssistantsIdentify and recommend process improvements and method efficienciesRequired QualificationsMust be 21 years of age or olderValid driver's licenseAbility to pass background screening and meet state cannabis employment requirementsBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related natural science2+ years of full-time, post-academic experience with GC-MS and/or ICP-MSStrong analytical chemistry and data analysis skillsExperience with instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshootingDemonstrated ability to follow SOPs and work in a regulated laboratory environmentHigh attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under pressurePreferred QualificationsExperience in cannabis, pharmaceutical, environmental, or food testing laboratoriesExperience with GC-MS, ICP-MS, LC-MS/MS or HPLCFamiliarity with ISO/IEC 17025 quality systems and accreditation requirementsExperience with method development and validationExperience with Agilent instrumentation platformsExperience with LIMSPeer leadership or training experienceWork EnvironmentFast-paced, production-driven laboratory environmentContinuous video and audio surveillance in accordance with state regulationsRequired use of PPE (lab coat, gloves, eye protection)Exposure to chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, and laboratory equipmentModerate to loud noise levelsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, sit, and move throughout the workdayFrequent use of hands for laboratory work and data entryAbility to lift and/or move up to 40 lbsStrong visual acuity, including close vision and color differentiationAbility to maintain concentration and produce accurate work consistentlyBenefitsHealth, Dental, and Vision InsurancePaid Time Off
