It serves the passenger vehicle and commercial truck markets and supports original‑equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop, direct and lead gear processing team.Coordinate with other plant departments (maintenance, automation, operations, scheduling) and the Corporate Manufacturing Group to achieve plant goals.Identify and implement best practices to improve safety, quality and productivity.Sustain improvements through training and documentation, including visual work instructions, process sheets, PFMEA's & Control Plans.Create training plans for gear process team.Develop Supervisors, Team Leaders and key Operators in production departments.Sustain a sense of process ownership with gear process team.Coordinate all sales inquiries & program launches through APQP, including coordinating the manufacture & movement of pre‑production material through the production departments.Manage capital budget through ICM and similar computer based systems.Participate in Engineering Intern recruitments/hiring process and supervise engineering Interns.EstimatingResponsible for timely completion of all estimates.Obtain quotations for new capital & tooling as needed.Blackboard or directional estimates as required.Business Unit ResponsibilitiesCapacity analysis.Involved in Business Unit manufacturing strategy.Planning of equipment moves within Ft Wayne & Business Unit.Use protective clothing, ear protection, and PPE as required by facility safety requirements.Job RequirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering or technology field with CNC programming capability and a minimum of 7 years experience.Must be able to read & interpret engineering drawings & specifications, including geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) standards.Must have proven mechanical aptitude, knowledge of the proper usage & application of measuring equipment.Work effectively, efficiently & be a self‑starter.Demonstrate proficient written/verbal communication skills in English.Use various computer operating systems & software as necessary, including but not limited to PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) and machine specific operating system & software applications.Strong problem‑solving techniques.Must be able to work inside & outside the plant unsupervised for extended periods of time.Must be available to flex shifts & work on weekends to support the engineering &/or production system.Must be available on short notice & be able to travel to machine manufacturers, customers, suppliers, & other locations when required (travel may span several days, may be out of the country).May be required to attend a variety of gear manufacturing courses, tool shows, gear shows, & seminars which may require weeks to complete & may require foreign travel.Must have or be eligible for a passport for foreign travel, & have a valid driver's license.Preferred RequirementsThorough knowledge of face milling, face‑hobbing, grinding, turning, heat treatment & other processes used in the manufacture of gears.Prior experience with an organized labor force.Education and QualificationsSee Job Requirements and Preferred Requirements.Skills and CompetenciesInclude skills listed in Job Requirements.Equal Opportunity EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.#J-18808-Ljbffr
