Your Role

Akkodis is seeking a Gear Machining Tooling Engineer for a Contract with a client in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate will support the successful launch and optimization of gear machining tooling processes by driving quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Rate Range: $42/Hour to $45/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Gear Machining Tooling Engineer Responsibilities include:

• Lead the development, validation, and implementation of tooling solutions for gear machining processes to support successful manufacturing launches.

• Collaborate with launch teams and suppliers to ensure machining equipment, tooling, and processes meet quality, safety, and productivity targets.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives through lean manufacturing principles, variability reduction, and corrective action methodologies.

• Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, PPAP packages, and quality control standards for gear machining operations.

• Conduct process audits, investigate manufacturing issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure process capability and compliance.

• Support CNC machining operations by optimizing tooling performance, monitoring tool life, and ensuring adherence to environmental, safety, and ISO standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining manufacturing, tooling, or gear machining operations.

• Proven experience with high-production machining tools, gear blade grinding, PPAP documentation, process audits, and manufacturing process improvement.

• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, root cause analysis (8D/5 Why), and quality tools such as FMEA and DOE.

Pay Details: $42.00 to $45.00 per hour
