Amazon"s Global Tax department is scaling how it builds with AI, and it is standing up its architecture practice for the first time.
The role combines solution design and specification authorship for new builds. You will design AI solutions alongside product managers in Tax teams, from discovery through handover to the engineering team that builds and operates them, and author the solution specifications Tax builders work to within the program"s governance framework. This is an individual contributor role for an architect who wants to stay deep in the design work: retrieval, evaluation, agentic workflows, and the patterns that make each build faster than the last.
You will work in close partnership with the tax professionals whose problems you are designing for. The best designs in this space come from sitting with the customer, so the role carries an expectation of regular direct contact with the teams you serve, wherever they sit. Tax operates globally, and so does this role
Key job responsibilities
About the team
The Tax GenAI Program is the single-threaded team for AI across Amazon"s Global Tax department. The program owns the department"s AI strategy end to end, from product and architecture through governance and controllership.
The program is focused on value creation: cross-cutting products, AI-first workflow redesign, and automation of manual processes, delivered through product managers embedded in Tax teams and a central engineering and governance function. This role sits between the two, turning validated problems into buildable designs.
