General Accountant

Staffmark is hiring a General Accountant in Charlotte for someone who knows the numbers, keeps the books tight, and gets it done accurately.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, lookups) preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Epicor, or similar); Paychex Flex a plus
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Job Duties:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting functions including AR (payment processing, collections) and AP (vendor invoices, expense reports)
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and support accruals
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues with customers and vendors
  • Assist with payroll processing, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules
  • Support month-end and year-end close, including financial statement preparation and audit support
  • Prepare financial, sales, and operational reports
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP standards
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and internal controls
