The Position
This position, under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks related to routine maintenance and preventative maintenance of equipment and systems associated with the Ocean County College buildings; and contributes collectively to providing 24/7 campus-wide maintenance coverage. This position executes all position responsibilities, operations and functions in accordance with approved college policies and procedures and established safety regulations and practices.

What You Will Do
Performs maintenance assignments under general supervision which include maintenance, repairs, and labor functions related to the corrective and preventative maintenance of electrical equipment, HVAC equipment (replaces filter, belts etc.); masonry, carpentry, metal and painting assignments, some of which are performed within high or confined spaces.
Performs a variety of tasks required to provide 24 hour emergency response to all maintenance calls in the absence of other technicians and insure proper maintenance coverage for all after hour campus events as determined by management.
Monitors HVAC equipment and systems, completes boiler and mechanical room logs.
Responds to Fire Protection System trouble alarms and provides reports to the immediate manager.
Operates machine tools in order to make repairs on building and equipment parts; picks up and delivers parts and supplies as necessary.
Inspects buildings and equipment for needed repairs and compliance with technical orders, blueprints, specifications, handbooks, and/or established procedures; maintains accurate records and diagnosis problems and determines appropriate action.
Performs custodial and grounds keeping duties as required, including snow removal responsibilities.
Performs work assignments that may rotate between buildings, zones or other repair facilities depending on the needs of the College.
Monitors boiler operations as necessary and ensures safe operations; reports any operating issues or service needs to appropriate parties.
Operates scissor lifts, boom lifts, and platform lifts for all necessary outdoor and indoor repairs.
Assists, as required, and/or directed with snow plowing, snow and ice removal.
Related duties as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
High School Diploma or equivalency
At least two years of routine maintenance experience; however the completion of a vocational educational program, or apprenticeship in a maintenance field (electrical or HVAC) may be substituted for the required years of experience.
Black Seal License or attainment of a Black Seal license within 18 months from date of hire and ongoing renewal of this license during length of employment.
Valid New Jersey drivers license in good standing.
Full knowledge of operation of scissor lifts, boom lifts, and platform lifts for both indoor and outdoor use.
Ability to lift 100 pounds and perform duties of position in high and confined places.
