Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified General Clinical Laboratory Technician for a 14-week contract assignment in Manhattan, New York. The selected candidate will support clinical laboratory operations by performing routine laboratory duties, handling specimens, and assisting with diagnostic testing in accordance with established laboratory procedures and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of general clinical laboratory technician experience, valid New York State certification, and a strong understanding of laboratory safety and specimen handling procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine clinical laboratory tasks in accordance with established protocols.

• Receive, identify, label, and process laboratory specimens accurately.

• Assist with laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures within the scope of certification and training.

• Follow laboratory standard operating procedures and quality control requirements.

• Maintain accurate laboratory records and document test-related activities.

• Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and preparation.

• Follow infection control, biosafety, and laboratory safety guidelines.

• Maintain laboratory equipment and work areas according to established standards.

• Report specimen discrepancies, testing issues, and quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.

• Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to support timely and accurate diagnostic services.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of general clinical laboratory technician experience.

• Experience supporting routine clinical laboratory operations.

• Knowledge of specimen collection, identification, handling, and processing.

• Understanding of laboratory safety procedures and quality control practices.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to follow laboratory protocols and maintain accurate documentation.

Required Education and Certification

• Valid Clinical Laboratory Technician certification issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

• Primary source verification of certification is required.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
