The General Construction Project Estimator is responsible for supporting preconstruction and bidding activities for public works, commercial, institutional, renovation, and general construction projects. This role develops accurate project estimates, performs detailed takeoffs, evaluates construction documents and project schedules, and prepares complete bid packages. The ideal candidate has strong experience in public works and commercial construction, including DSA-regulated school projects, and is knowledgeable in prevailing wage requirements, construction costs, and code compliance.
ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from plans, specifications, and construction documents.
Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs by trade and cost code.
Prepare conceptual, schematic, design-development, and final bid estimates.
Develop and account for allowances, contingencies, escalation, general conditions, supervision, and project overhead.
Include costs for permits, testing, inspections, bonds, insurance, temporary facilities, logistics, and project closeout.
Review wage determinations and calculate applicable prevailing wage labor costs.
Evaluate project schedules and determine impacts on labor, equipment, supervision, and general conditions.
Prepare complete project estimates, including overhead and recommended profit.
Document estimate assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, and qualifications.
Review and verify estimate accuracy prior to management review.
Conduct occasional job site visits and inspections as required.
Experience estimating public works, commercial, institutional, renovation, or general construction projects.
Experience with DSA-regulated school construction, including K-12 and/or higher education projects.
Experience with commercial construction and modular building projects.
Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
Knowledge of construction costs, cost codes, subcontractor pricing, and project bidding.
Understanding of prevailing wage requirements and wage determinations.
Strong knowledge of construction codes, industry standards, and regulatory compliance.
OSHA 30 certification and knowledge of construction safety requirements.
Proficiency with Procore and the ability to learn new estimating and construction technology.
Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to work full-time onsite in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, with occasional travel for training and job site visits.
