Now Hiring: General Dentist (Flexible Schedule - Half-Time or Full-Time New Graduate Opportunity)

Highland Medical Center - Monterey, Virginia

Highland Medical Center (HMC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Dentist to join our team in the beautiful mountains of Western Virginia. This is a unique opportunity offering flexible scheduling-ideal for an experienced provider seeking a half-time, every-other-month schedule, or for a full-time new graduate looking to grow alongside an experienced dentist in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Position Overview:

As a Dentist at HMC, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered dental care to individuals and families in a rural, community-focused setting. You will play a key role in improving oral health outcomes while building meaningful relationships with patients and contributing to a team that values compassion, excellence, and whole-person care.

This role offers:

  • Half-time option: Work every other month with extended time off in between

  • Full-time option (new graduates encouraged): Work alongside our current dentist (who practices every other month) for mentorship and continuity of care

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine and emergency dental services, including exams, diagnosis, and treatment planning

  • Perform general restorative procedures, crown and bridge work, removable prosthetics, and uncomplicated endodontics and oral surgery

  • Prescribe and interpret radiographs and administer appropriate anesthetics and medications

  • Educate patients and families on oral health and preventative care

  • Refer patients to specialists as needed and ensure continuity of care

  • Supervise and collaborate with the dental hygienist and assistants

  • Participate in quality improvement efforts, including chart audits and workflow optimization

  • Engage in community outreach and oral health education initiatives

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records

Qualifications:

  • DDS or DMD from an ADA-accredited program

  • Active, unrestricted Virginia dental license (or ability to obtain)

  • Current BLS certification

  • Strong clinical skills with a commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Interest in rural health and serving a diverse patient population

  • New graduates are encouraged to apply for the full-time opportunity
