Duties Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

Assess the capabilities of the United States Mint in terms of engineering skills and time available to undertake work of given scope and nature provide budgetary input for construction and facility improvements.

Monitor spending on facility projects against budgets and submits requests for changes as needed estimate the costs of all related services needed to effectively execute plant improvements or machinery relocation installation and operation.

When needed use this and any other related information to prepare provide budgetary input for improvements and acquisition projects programs perform cost-to-benefit and cost-to-need analysis author sole source justifications develop and submit requisitions contracts PARs requiring the development of short- and long-range up to 5 years or more year plans for production needs and budgetary requirements.

Assure that improvements of buildings and associated equipment meet all applicable state local OSHA EPA and conservation requirements.

Lead teams in continuous improvement projects ensures that incoming inspection procedures for raw materials and repair parts are documented properly and followed in practice.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience For the GS-11 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as -Assisting with project management with experience of building systems andor manufacturing processes. AND -Providing assistance for investigating analyzing and correcting adverse quality trends or conditions.

OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. To combine education and experience the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the educational requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of 36 semester hours 54 quarter hours may be used to combine education and experience.

Specialized Experience For the GS-09 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as - Analyzing information and communicating that information through oral discussionspresentations and written fact sheetsreports AND - Applying principles and concepts of general engineering in order to research interpret and carry out assignments.

OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a masters degree or masters or equivalent graduate degree OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. To combine education and experience the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the educational requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of 18 semester hours 27 quarter hours may be used to combine education and experience.

In addition to the above requirements you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement if applicable

For the GS-11 you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks.

For the GS-09 you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.
