Primary Purpose
The General Engineer leads and supports engineering efforts across Exelons utility infrastructure, including electric or gas distribution, transmission, substations, and related systems. This role requires a broad understanding of utility operations and involves developing engineering solutions, managing technical deliverables, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

The Engineering Lab Operations (ELO) team is seeking a General Engineer to support daily operations across ComEds Smart Grid and REACTS engineering laboratories. This role provides hands‑on technical support to ensure safe, reliable, and effective testing of utility equipment and to advance the technology readiness of the Maywood Tech Center facilities, including the GrIT Lab, MOAT outdoor lab, and REACTS Lab, in support of Smart Grid and REACTS technology development.

Additionally, the position plays a key role in lab safety and asset stewardship by maintaining accurate equipment records in PowerBase, supporting maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements, supporting IT vulnerability assessments, and providing training to lab users while enforcing established laboratory protocols.
Note This position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms, technology deployments, or other energy delivery emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications
(1) Masters degree in Engineering reduces the OJT experience requirement by 1 year.(2) License must be issued by the state in which you are practicing.(3) PE License reduces the OJT experience requirement by 1 year.(4) Career related experiences is defined as changes in technical job responsibilities and does not have to include a change in department
Note: Items (1) and (3) are mutually inclusive, whereby the maximum experience requirement reduction is one(1) year (e.g., in the case of an employee with both a masters degree in Engineering AND a PE license, the minimum experience requirement would be reduced by one (1) year).
