Job Title: General Foreman (Night Shift)
Location: Pascagoula, MS
Position Overview: A General Foreman is responsible for directing his/her workforce in the successful implementation of all craft-specific activities as it relates to associated shipbuilding and/or repair functions in addition to supporting the General Superintendent in coordinating and implementing activities within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
· Directs and coordinates all craft and subcontractor activities on night shift.
· Develops, reviews, and maintains construction plans, schedules, budgets and other essential records.
· Can read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and other technical guidance documentation.
· Ensures material and labor resources necessary to accomplish tasks are readily available.
· Maintains work schedules; works overtime as needed to minimize project delay.
· Meets with other members of ship management to coordinate construction efforts.
· Optimizes shipyard activities to produce a high-quality work product consistent with Company standards.
· Trains and motivates workforce to result in high levels of productivity.
· Addresses daily personnel, equipment and facility issues; develops viable solutions and remedial actions.
· Delegates work as required to maintain level workloads.
· Meets with customers to address their needs.
· Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, corporate environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system, ISO-9000.
· Other duties assigned or requested by Management.
· Provides nightly reports.
· Reports to work daily and on time.
· Submits time for night shift personnel.
Qualifications:
· Seven (7) years shipbuilding or five (5) years of continuous Company experience in a similar position preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
· Possesses in-depth knowledge of craft-specific processes and techniques.
· Well-organized supervisor with directly applicable experience in resource planning and scheduling.
· Capable of multi-tasking and can handle large volumes of work.
· Superior problem-solving ability to minimize cost and schedule delay.
· Works well with other shipyard supervisors.
· Exhibits high energy levels and maintains a good attitude.
· Able to perform labor estimates and develop associated manpower schedules.
· Familiar with standard marine practice and general specifications for construction.
· Has good general knowledge of shipbuilding activities.
