General Foreman - Rolling Stock

Peabody is seeking a General Foreman - Rolling Stock Shop to join our Maintenance team at the North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM) in Wright, Wyoming. NARM is the largest surface coal mine in the world, producing high-quality thermal coal that is transported by haul truck and shipped by rail. The operation maintains approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves and plays a critical role in delivering reliable energy resources.

Job Summary

The Maintenance General Foreman is responsible for fostering a safe, productive, and positive work environment for employees and contractors. This role provides leadership and oversight for Rolling Stock maintenance activities, ensuring scheduled work execution and defect management processes are prioritized to achieve equipment availability and reliability targets across all fleets. The Maintenance General Foreman is accountable for mentoring, coaching, and developing direct reports, promoting operational excellence, workforce engagement, and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with all safety, environmental, and company standards.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Visibly support and champion Peabody's Missions and Values
• Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
• Plan, direct and lead the work of a crew or team
• Supervise maintenance and repair personnel by providing technical counsel and advice to the maintenance workers, answer questions on methods or materials to be used, check to observe workmanship and conformance to safety regulations
• Prepare and submit accurate and timely maintenance records
• Under the direction of Maintenance Manager, implement short-term and long-term maintenance planning, scheduling and forecasting
• Assists the Maintenance Manager in the periodic review of maintenance and repair reports
• Provide input into analyzing costs for potential improvements
• Assist in the monitoring and maintaining the proper flow of parts and inventory
• Analyze failed components for failure reasons and then makes changes to eliminate or lessen chances or repeat failures
• Keeps Maintenance Manager and/or Mine Management advised of work progress, job completions and results
• Evaluate the efforts of workforce and train them in area of weakness
• Keep abreast of latest maintenance methods and equipment through technical publications and vendor representatives
• Monitor maintenance employees work performance and operating conditions to ensure the prevention of accidents consistent with company safety objectives and applicable State and Federal regulations
• Make recommendations for equipment changes or replacements
• Supervise equipment change/upgrade efforts and any replacement/relocation activities
• Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
• Other duties as assigned by the company

Qualificiations

• Highschool dipolma or equivalent
• Must have Mine Foremans Certificate
• Proficient with Computer programs (SAP, Excel, Word, MS Project, Email)

Experience

• Must have prior experience (Minimum of 2 year) as a supervisor or crew
• Minimum of five years of heavy equipment maintenance experience in mobile mining equipment
• Ability to direct employees to work in a safe, efficient and productive manner
• Process outsiding verbal and written communication skill
• Ability to effectively prioritize maintenance work versus needs of production

Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements - Surface Environment

• Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
• Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
• Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
• Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
• Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
• Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
• Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)

Physical Requirements - Office

• Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours
• Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone
• Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents
• Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person
• Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.
