Job Purpose or Objective(s): Apply accounting principles including work that is analytical, creative, evaluative, and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice and resource management. You will report to the Senior Accounting Manager.

Primary Tasks:

  1. You will develop departmental procedures and consider the need for new or changed controls.

  2. Analyze the effect of transactions and evaluate alternative means of handling transactions.

  3. Review accuracy of monthly financial reports prior to reporting to management.

  4. Recommend improvements, adaptations or revisions in the accounting system and procedures.

  5. You will apply accounting principles to analyze financial information, prepare financial reports and interpret the meaning of accounting records, reports and statements.

  6. Complete monthly reconciliation of all interdepartmental accounts, transfers and balance sheet items.

  7. Update reports monthly and ensure any discrepancies are investigated and resolved.

  8. Accumulate and track all costs associated with construction in progress, grants or projects that fall under their direction.

  9. Review reports for management, federal government, and audit.

  10. You will lead and positively encourage a team of accounting associates

  11. Perform other tasks as may be assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor''s degree in accounting or finance or related experience.

Have knowledge of GAAP, federal regulations, and organization''s procedures as they relate to financial statements.

Six (6) years of accounting experience

Two (2) years of experience supervising direct reports.
