    Description

    Position Overview

    The General Laborer performs a variety of plant duties, including direct production tasks like stacking, feeding, and assisting machine operators, as well as indirect tasks such as cleaning and loading trucks. This role supports production by filling in on machines when needed and ensuring accurate reporting and quality checks. Direct supervision is always available, and training is provided for all assigned tasks.

    Responsibilities

    ·Train to perform various positions, including stacking and feeding
    ·Assist machine operators to keep orders running smoothly and provide coverage when operators are absent
    ·Earn a higher wage once trained and qualified
    ·Perform general duties such as:
    oOff-bearing or catching and stacking from machines
    oBundling
    oActing as an extra feeder on machines
    oMiscellaneous banding
    oSweeping and cleaning up machines
    oLoading trucks
    oOff-machine stripping
    oOn or off-machine quality inspecting
    oPainting
    ·Fill in on any production machines for employees who are on vacation, sick, or otherwise absent
    · Accurately report time and production on required sheets
    ·Report irregularities, maintenance needs, and quality issues to the Supervisor
    ·Perform data collection and chart recording related to quality processes
    ·Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

     

    Qualifications

    ·No previous plant experience necessary
    ·Typically requires less than one month to become fully competent on the job
    ·Must be able to correctly interpret shop orders
    ·Must pass a background check, drug screen, and pre-employment physical
    ·Must be at least 18 years of age
    ·High school diploma or GED required
    ·Must be able to lift 20 pounds repetitively and up to 50 pounds
    ·Must be able to stand for 8–10 hours per shift
    ·Overtime is mandatory
