Description
Harris American manufactures industrial recycling and scrap-processing equipment, including balers, shears, shredders, and related systems for customers around the world. Working in the machinery industry, the company supports production across multiple facilities and plays an important role in building equipment used in demanding industrial environments.
This role is a hands-on opportunity to support day-to-day production work and help keep materials, parts, and equipment moving efficiently through the shop. As a General Laborer, you will contribute to core manufacturing operations by supporting fabrication workflows, maintaining organized work areas, and helping other departments as needed to keep work on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload the burning table as needed.
- Deburr parts as required and deliver them to the proper storage location.
- Update part locations using the provided form.
- Assist with cleaning and rebuilding the burning table.
- Stage parts for welders by pulling parts according to the bill of material, including required jigs and fixtures, as requested.
- Safely move materials using a fork truck and overhead crane.
- Properly complete all required daily paperwork.
- Repair parts using a welder as needed.
- Assist with janitorial tasks as required.
- Assist with painting tasks as required.
- Help in other departments as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision and/or the group leader.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Experience safely operating forklifts and overhead cranes in manufacturing environments.
- Physical ability to lift materials and assist across multiple departments.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Availability to work overtime and Saturdays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read bills of materials and stage parts accurately.
- Experience completing daily paperwork and tracking part locations accurately.
