We are seeking a motivated and dedicated General Laborer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting various tasks in the sorting and handling of scrap materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the work environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities:
What You Will Do
- Picking Line Operations: Sort scrap materials to upgrade and remove nonconforming items to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Cleaning: Remove spillage from conveyors using mobile equipment and hand tools, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on both mobile and fixed equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Adherence to Safety Standards: Follow all safety regulations and protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support the overall operations of the facility.
Qualifications:

- Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more repetitively on a regular basis.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform physical labor for extended periods, including lifting and bending.

- Experience operating mobile equipment (e.g., forklifts, skid steers).
Schedule:
- Typical work schedule is Monday - Frday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weekends when needed.

Founded in Fort Wayne, IN in 1943, OmniSource, LLC has grown to become one of North America’s largest processors, distributors, and managers of scrap and secondary metals. We collect, process, and resell a wide variety of scrap metal. The company ships over 5 million gross tons of recycled steel and 1 billion pounds of nonferrous and stainless-steel scrap annually.
