Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

The General Laborer maintains a safe, clean, and organized manufacturing environment within a busy hardscape and building materials production facility. This role supports daily plant operations through housekeeping, material handling, cleanup, and a wide range of general labor tasks. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys physically demanding work in a fast-paced industrial setting and takes pride in supporting production teams and overall plant efficiency.


Responsibilities


+ Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area throughout the facility by sweeping, shoveling, and performing regular housekeeping tasks.

+ Support daily plant operations by handling materials, moving products, and assisting production personnel as needed.

+ Perform general labor duties such as loading and unloading materials, stacking products, and clearing debris from work areas.

+ Assist with cleanup activities around production lines, equipment, and storage areas to ensure safe and efficient operations.

+ Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working around moving machinery and industrial equipment.

+ Monitor work areas for potential hazards and promptly report unsafe conditions or equipment issues.

+ Follow verbal and written instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.

+ Collaborate with team members and other departments to support changing business and production needs.

+ Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

+ Support various departments as needed, including production, warehouse, and material handling functions.


Essential Skills


+ Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

+ Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

+ Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and shovel throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Previous experience in general labor, production, or warehouse environments.

+ Experience with sweeping, shoveling, and other cleaning and housekeeping tasks in an industrial setting.

+ Experience working with concrete or in a concrete or hardscape production facility.

+ Forklift experience or familiarity with forklift operations is a strong plus.

+ Comfort working in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.

Work Environment


This position is based in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility that produces concrete and hardscape products. The role takes place in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, vibration, and moving equipment. Employees spend most of the shift on their feet, with frequent walking, lifting, sweeping, shoveling, and other physically demanding tasks. Proper personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, gloves, and other required gear, must be worn at all times. The standard schedule runs Monday through Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Safety, housekeeping, and teamwork are essential to success in this environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winchester, VA.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
