    General Ledger Accountant Job DescriptionReporting to the Director of Accounting, the General Ledger Accountant provides essential support to the accounting department in maintaining accurate and complete financial records. This position assists with daily journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, month‑end close tasks, and branch P&L research. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, eager to grow within a mortgage lending environment, and committed to producing reliable, timely work that supports the company's financial reporting and compliance obligations.1. ExpectationsPrepare and post daily journal entries accurately and on time.Complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations within required time frames.Research and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies in a timely manner.Support month‑end and year‑end close procedures, ensuring deadlines are met.Maintain amortization and depreciation schedules.Research and respond to branch P&L inquiries from operations and branch managers.Coordinate submission of local and state governmental reports related to nationwide branch offices, including applicable taxes.Support team members and cross‑train on accounting functions as needed.Maintain a professional image and adhere to company policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.2. Required Experience & KnowledgeBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.Minimum of 3–5 years of general ledger accounting experience.Prior experience in the mortgage or financial services industry preferred.Experience with LoanVision general ledger is a plus.Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and Word; ability to learn additional systems as required.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Self‑starter with a proactive approach and sound judgment.Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.DISCLAIMER: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
