Job DetailsWe are seeking an experienced General Liability / Third-Party Defense Attorney with 5-7 years of litigation experience and trial experience.
This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-exposure litigation matters while collaborating with a dynamic team of accomplished litigators serving insurers, businesses, property owners, and corporate clients throughout Florida.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general liability and third-party defense litigation, excellent advocacy skills, and experience handling cases from inception through trial.
Responsibilities
Manage a diverse caseload of general liability and third-party defense matters.
Handle all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial.
Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.
Draft, argue, and respond to substantive motions and pleadings.
Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and courtroom strategy.
Serve as first-chair or second-chair trial counsel, depending on experience.
Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances throughout Florida.
Analyze liability and damages issues and develop effective litigation strategies.
Communicate regularly with clients, insurance carriers, and claims professionals regarding case status and recommendations.
Collaborate with partners and support staff to achieve favorable client outcomes.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar.
5-7 years of experience in general liability, insurance defense, and/or third-party defense litigation.
Meaningful trial experience, including jury trial and courtroom responsibilities.
Extensive deposition experience and strong oral advocacy skills.
Experience handling matters involving premises liability, negligent security, construction-related claims, catastrophic injury, transportation liability, and other complex tort claims.
Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case management abilities.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills.
Experience representing insurance carriers and self-insured entities.
Familiarity with complex commercial liability and high-exposure claims.
Experience mentoring junior attorneys and assisting with case strategy.
