    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    This position is responsible for industrial maintenance duties on equipment, machinery, building, and grounds. This work includes, but is not limited to, machine installation and construction, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical work.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment

    • Remove defective parts by dismantling machines or the components of, using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools

    • Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs needed to safely return equipment to acceptable operating condition

    • Perform planned maintenance activities, such as but not limited to, cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery or plant equipment, as well as installing electrical equipment

    • Ability to work on hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electronic components, including replacing AC and DC motors

    • Ability to operate, use, and perform MIG and Arc welding as necessary

    • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools

    • Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers

    • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.

    DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

    • Participate on project teams, star point teams and kaizen events when needed.

    • Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:

    2-year technical degree in electrical field or equivalent preferred

    Experience:

    Previous experience in manufacturing preferred

    Preferred Skills/ Qualifications:

    • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

    • Sound decision making skills

    • Good math, reading and writing skills

    • Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention

    Skills/ Competencies:

    1. Basic computer skills

    2. Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks

    3. Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail

    4. Must be able to operate material handling equipment and hoist, if needed

    Physical Requirements:

    1. Ability to operate material handling equipment

    2. Ability to perform work in hot and cold temperatures

    3. Includes outdoor work

    4. Ability to work at heights above ground-level

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/ SCOPE:

    • Report directly to Facilities Specialist

    • Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with the processes & equipment

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    The employee may be subject to:

    • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment

    • Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels

    • May be exposed to nuisance fumes and order dust

    • Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility clothing)

    • Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis

    • Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions

    • Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime
