Additional Information:
The role of a general shop journey is to assist the general shop lead in completing all work assigned to the general shop and to guide and train the apprentice. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency, Hold and maintain valid Texas Driver's License and maintain good driving record, Journey level performance as demonstrated by references and experiences, 3 - 5 years journey level experience in commercial work, Must have experience or be willing to work including but not limited to grounds, heavy equipment, concrete, masonry, welding, digging, herbicides and pesticides, irrigation systems, etc.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Be honest, dependable and of good moral character. Be a self-starter, high initiative and require little supervision. Support board and administrative policies and decisions. Maintain professional work environment through a positive attitude, punctuality, regular attendance, phone etiquette, and personal appearance.
Repair/replacement of General Shop systems for all AISD facilities. Conform to industry and shop standards of safety. Maintain a functional awareness of the typical hazards of the workplace as well as the special hazards that may be encountered by the trade. Promptly report accidents on the job. Prepare and submit accident reports to Supervisor.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Physical Requirements:
Be able to cut and prune trees of all heights to remove and control excess, undesired, diseased wood and foliage. Eliminate interference with power and/or communication lines above and below ground. Remove branches and trees to protect nearby buildings and equipment. Cut and remove designated trees and stumps.

Work Environment:
Work with frequent interruptions. Frequent standing, walking and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Assembling and moving ladders, scaffolding, trailers, compressors, etc. Lifting and carrying up to 80 pounds. May be required to wear a respirator and pass appropriate pulmonary physical. Exposure to noise and communicable diseases. Extreme cold/heat. Exposure to wet and humid conditions. Work in confined spaces. Exposure to legal limits of pesticides and herbicides. Exposure to odors and gases. Tolerate exposure to grasses and other outside environments.
