General Maintenance Technician II – 1st Shift

$18-$20 per hrs. on W2
Job Summary
We are seeking an entry-level General Maintenance Technician II to join our Operations & Maintenance team. The technician will assist with inspections, lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and general facility maintenance.
The role will also involve basic repairs and maintenance of floors, walls, windows, doors, office furniture, grounds, and other facility-related items.
The candidate must be flexible with scheduling and willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and alternative shifts when required.
Responsibilities
- Assist the maintenance team with industrial facility repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Assist co-workers with diagnosing malfunctions in production machinery and equipment.
- Assist with maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting:
- Overhead door systems
- Pumps
- Piping
- Seals
- Valves
- Perform routine inspections, lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and other preventive maintenance tasks.
- Perform general facility maintenance, including trench cleaning, sign hanging, and minor repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to schedules in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Perform general repairs involving floors, walls, windows, doors, office furniture, and other facility areas.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment.
- Follow proper safety procedures, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and PPE requirements.
- Work effectively as part of a team and provide support to coworkers as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility with day-to-day assignments and scheduling.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience maintaining buildings, facilities, or equipment in an industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as:
- Tape measures
- Leveling tools
- Ability to safely operate a wide variety of hand and power tools.
- Ability to work from an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights of 30 feet or higher.
- Basic mechanical and general maintenance skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical skills sufficient to assist with preventive maintenance and repairs of facility-related equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience safely using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and email.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to work overtime when required.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, and alternative shifts.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required facility credentials/authorization.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Qualified candidates must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform repetitive wrist movements.
- Ability to walk extensively throughout the facility during the workday.
- Ability to read and understand information from documents and computer screens.
- Ability to use computers, keyboards, databases, and office equipment.
- Ability to attend meetings throughout the facility.
- May require travel to nearby customer, vendor, or other facility locations.
- Ability to communicate effectively by telephone and in individual or group meetings.
- Ability to move light-to-medium-weight materials into desks, filing cabinets, and storage areas.
- Ability to work effectively under periods of stress and changing priorities.
PPE Requirements
Must be able to wear required PPE, including:
- Steel-toe safety shoes
- Safety glasses
- Gloves
- Hard hat
- Other required personal protective equipment
