Job Vacancy Details
Under general supervision, the General Maintenance Technician II performs a variety of maintenance duties as required and in support of electrical, plumbing, metal stud fabricating, drywall installation, painting, maintenance and repair. This position requires being on call on designated nights and weekends for emergency assistance due to maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment for the college.
What Youll Do
Performs HVAC maintenance, checking air supply and equipment, services air-handling units.
Assists electrical, plumbing and general maintenance jobs that need to be done around the campus, etc.
Constructs, assembles and installs lightweight steel or aluminum stud framing.
Measures, cuts, fits and secures drywall panels.
Tapes, mudds, and sands to prepare surfaces for painting and paints those surfaces.
Performs routine/preventative maintenance on variety of systems. Duties include checking door closures inside and outside of the buildings to determine if they are functioning properly.
Maintains records as required including operating a computer-based work order system. Maintains procurement card related sales receipts.
Operates and/or utilizes a variety of types of equipment upon completion of proper training. Equipment includes: forklift, scissor life, aerial platform, generator, electric welder, gas torch, mechanic's tools, carpentry tools and equipment, campus vehicles, etc.
Performs on call service on rotating nights and weekends for emergency assistance due to maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment for the college, which includes checking all facilities for proper operation on weekends and holidays.
Performs a variety of general maintenance duties such as: removing broken tree limbs from trees, unloading trucks, assisting Electrical and HVAC as needed, performing duties during inclement weather which requires, but is not limited to, storm clean up, storm notification or evacuation, and snow removal which may be required to be done during times the school is closed due to the inclement weather.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor environments across the college campus, including classrooms, offices, shops, mechanical rooms, roofs, and exterior grounds. The position regularly works in maintenance shops and construction-type environments where exposure to noise, dust, vibration, chemicals, adhesives, paints, solvents, and varying weather conditions may occur. Duties frequently involve working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and aerial platforms, as well as operating maintenance vehicles and powered equipment. The role may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, and construction hazards, requiring adherence to established safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may also be performed during emergency situations such as severe weather events, utility outages, or campus closures to ensure the safety and operational readiness of college facilities.
Physical Demands: Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle as well as a variety of types of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, and construction equipment. Must be physically able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work; work involves standing, walking, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing frequently and/or constantly. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to fifty pounds
Normal Working Hours: Standard schedule, Monday - Friday; The position requires on-call rotation during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to respond to maintenance emergencies and ensure continuous campus operations. Overtime, adjusted hours, or call-back work may be required, particularly during emergency situations, special projects, inclement weather, or campus closures.
