    Position Summary

    As a General (Building Trades) Maintenance Technician, you’ll work across the Village performing the hands-on maintenance that makes the guest experience possible: carpentry, repairs, snow removal, pest monitoring, mail runs, and more. You’ll report to the Building Trades Manager and work both independently and alongside a close-knit facilities team.


    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Perform carpentry, basic repairs, and general maintenance throughout the Village
    • Monitor, document, and respond to pest activity on campus using safe, established practices
    • Assist with projects involving masonry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
    • Support snow and ice removal as needed
    • Make daily mail and supply runs on campus and off-site
    • Track and update work requests using our facilities management software
    • Maintain and provide general hand tools; maintain OSV power tools
    • Respond to emergency and after-hours calls as needed
    • Occasionally work evenings and weekends for events
    • Help ensure the safety, cleanliness, and appearance of the entire museum grounds
    • Provide a welcoming experience for all visitors you encounter

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 3–5 years of general maintenance, facilities, or related trade experience
    • OSHA 10 certification required, or willingness to obtain upon hire
    • Valid driver’s license required
    • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
    • Knowledge of safe pest control practices
    • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to work cooperatively with people of diverse backgrounds

    • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally up to 80 lbs. — this is an essential function of the job given the nature of facilities and grounds work
    • Must have close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
    • Frequently works outdoors in all weather conditions
    • Occasionally works at elevated heights
