Job Description:
Summary
The General Manager owns full P&L and operational leadership for Hughes-Primeau Controls LLC, an engineered solutions and distribution business built around heat trace and instrumentation/valve product lines. This role succeeds a long-tenured General Manager/owner and is responsible for sustaining the operational excellence, customer trust, and technical credibility that built the business, while directly leading the commercial (customer-facing) team to drive continued growth. The General Manager serves as both the senior operational leader and the leader of the commercial function, owning go-to-market strategy, customer relationships, and revenue growth alongside operational and P&L accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Own full P&L accountability for Hughes-Primeau Controls, including revenue, margin, and operating cost performance
- Directly lead the Outside Sales Team, driving go-to-market strategy, new market/customer expansion, and growth initiatives
- Directly lead the Operations Manager and oversee day-to-day operational performance across the shop and fulfillment functions
- Serve as the senior escalation point and relationship steward for the company's key supply partners
- Retain and develop technical and institutional knowledge across the business, reducing single-point-of-failure risk
- Lead talent development and succession planning within the leadership bench
- Report performance, risks, and strategic initiatives to executive leadership
- Uphold and evolve the company's reputation for technical expertise and customer responsiveness in engineered heat trace and engineered flow solutions
Qualifications
- Proven P&L leadership experience in industrial distribution, engineered solutions, or a related technical/manufacturing environment
- Experience leading a commercial/outside sales function, including go-to-market strategy and customer relationship growth
- Experience managing key supplier/principal relationships in a distribution or manufacturers' rep model
- Strong operational leadership skills, including direct oversight of an Operations Manager and shop/fulfillment functions
- Ability to build trust quickly with legacy customers, suppliers, and employees during a leadership transition
- Technical fluency in heat trace, valves, or process instrumentation preferred; ability to engage credibly with engineering/technical teams required
- Demonstrated ability to develop talent and build organizational depth, not just manage day-to-day operations
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–15% for customer visits, supplier/principal relationship management, and site oversight
