Employment Type: Full-time, salaried, exempt
Compensation: $80,000+ / year + performance bonus
About Big Fish
Big Fish is a new casual seafood and American restaurant opening in the heart of Broadway at the Beach. We pair A+ quality food with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere — a place where families, locals, and Myrtle Beach visitors come for great seafood, live entertainment, and the best live music and sports viewing in town. We're food-first, but we're also in the business of giving people a great night out.
We are a pre-opening concept building our founding team from the ground up. The General Manager will be a key architect of how Big Fish runs from day one.
The Role
The General Manager owns the day-to-day operation of Big Fish — front of house, bar, service, guest experience, financial performance, and team development. You'll partner closely with the Executive Chef on the back of house and with ownership on strategy, marketing, and growth. This is a hands-on leadership role in a high-volume, multi-faceted venue.
What You'll Own
- Full P&L responsibility — sales, labor, COGS, controllables, and profitability
- Daily operations across dining room, bar, patio, and entertainment programming
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a 50+ person team
- Service standards and guest experience — every shift, every guest
- Vendor relationships, ordering, inventory, and cost controls
- Health, safety, alcohol service compliance, and SC labor law adherence
- Scheduling, payroll oversight, and labor cost management
- Marketing partnership with ownership — local events, promotions, social presence
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of restaurant management experience, with at least 2 years as a GM or AGM in a high-volume, full-service environment
- Proven track record managing P&L for a $4M+ annual revenue operation
- Strong bar program experience — we'll have a serious cocktail and beer offering
- Experience in tourist, entertainment, or resort markets a major plus
- Comfort with the rhythm of a venue that runs late nights, weekends, and holidays
- Sharp financial instincts and fluency with restaurant POS, scheduling, and inventory systems
- A leader people want to work for — calm under pressure, clear communicator, develops talent
- ServSafe Manager certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- South Carolina Responsible Alcohol Server training (or ability to obtain)
Why Big Fish
- Ground-floor opportunity to shape the culture and operation of a new flagship venue
- Competitive base salary plus performance bonus tied to clear, achievable metrics
- Health insurance contribution, paid time off, and dining benefits
- Career path as the concept grows
- A team that takes food seriously and doesn't take itself too seriously
Big Fish is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for every team member and guest.
