General Manager

MAST Technologies is seeking a General Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for a growing manufacturing business serving aerospace, defense, and advanced technology markets. This role is responsible for the overall performance of the site, including operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, maintenance, EH&S, and financial results. The General Manager will drive operational excellence, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure the successful execution of business objectives while aligning with the company's strategic direction.

This role requires prior leadership experience within a manufacturing environment. Aerospace and defense industry experience is strongly preferred.

Job Accountabilities

  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for manufacturing operations, including Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and EH&S functions.
  • Develop and execute business strategies that align with company objectives while supporting growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and inventory performance.
  • Lead capacity planning, workforce planning, and capital investment initiatives to support current and future business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and applicable quality management systems.
  • Partner with Engineering, Program Management, and Operations teams to support new product introduction (NPI), production readiness, and successful program execution.
  • Analyze operational and financial performance metrics and communicate results, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, on-time delivery, labor efficiency, inventory management, and overall business performance.
  • Develop and support a cross-functional culture of continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Manage site budgets, forecasting, resource allocation, and operational spending to achieve business objectives.
  • Build, develop, and mentor high-performing teams while promoting accountability, engagement, and professional development.
  • Lead employee selection, performance management, succession planning, and training initiatives to ensure organizational capability and long-term success.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, integrity, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Specifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Experience:

  • 10-15+ years of progressive leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.
  • Prior responsibility for operational performance, financial results, workforce development, and customer satisfaction.

Required Skills

  • Proven success leading manufacturing operations in a production environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasting, resource allocation, and P&L performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements and execute strategic business plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound business decisions in complex situations.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or similar operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs, including on-time delivery, scrap, yield, labor efficiency, inventory turns, and productivity metrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and business reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace, defense, RF, electronics, advanced materials, or other highly engineered manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or government customers.
  • Experience leading organizations through growth, operational transformation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engineering or technical manufacturing background.
