About the Opportunity
Doherty Staffing Solutions is partnering with a transportation and logistics company in Eden Prairie, MN to hire a General Manager. In this role, you’ll lead day-to-day business operations, drive strategic growth, and oversee full P&L performance. This is an excellent opportunity to work with an established, relationship-focused organization while leading high-performing teams and building scalable operations.
What You'll Do:• Provide overall leadership and direction to achieve company goals, objectives, and strategic plans
• Set clear expectations for service excellence, employee engagement, and collaboration with customers, carriers, and partners
• Lead, coach, and develop employees to support growth, retention, and succession planning
• Partner with shared services to strengthen back-office functions, talent management, and annual planning processes• Stay informed on industry trends, competitive dynamics, and market conditions to guide business strategy
• Develop, maintain, and execute a rolling three-year strategic plan incorporating market insights and SWOT analysis
• Communicate and reinforce the company’s vision, mission, and value proposition across the organization
• Ensure the right talent is aligned to key roles to drive execution and growth
• Establish organizational discipline through consistent communication, accountability, and leadership practices
• Lead performance management processes, including annual reviews and compensation planning
• Manage and grow agent relationships and support expansion of the agent channel• Communicate annual goals, business plans, and strategic initiatives across teams
• Coach operations teams on carrier sales strategies and broker account management best practices
• Lead budget reviews, KPI tracking, and operational scorecard meetings; ensure team-level accountability
• Collaborate with leadership to maintain a safe, reliable, and cost-effective carrier network
• Negotiate competitive freight rates and ensure strong service delivery
• Drive adoption of technology, systems, and tools to improve efficiency and scalability• Identify target markets and customer segments to drive growth and expansion
• Develop and implement service offerings, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans
• Foster a growth-oriented culture with clear communication, accountability, and performance metrics
• Ensure a customer-centric approach with proactive service and continuous improvement
• Lead marketing initiatives including branding, digital strategy, website effectiveness, and collateral development• Hold full P&L responsibility, managing financial performance, budgets, and profitability targets
• Oversee accounts receivable, aging, and collections to maintain strong cash flow
• Manage pricing strategies for both buy-side and sell-side operations
• Monitor operating expenses to align with financial plans
• Participate in monthly and quarterly business reviews to evaluate performance against KPIs and budgets
• Prepare and deliver monthly revenue forecasts covering a rolling three-month period
What You Need to Bring:• Bachelor’s degree required
• 10+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
• 5+ years of leadership/management experience
• Strong business acumen with experience managing financial performance and P&L
• Proven ability to lead teams, drive strategy, and execute growth initiatives
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment in Eden Prairie, MN
