General Manager – Manufacturing Operations

Position Summary

The General Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for a manufacturing facility, overseeing all administrative, operational, and financial performance. This role partners closely with senior leadership across operations, quality, and business development to ensure the facility meets production goals, maintains operational excellence, and supports long-term organizational sustainability. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recommend and implement an effective organizational structure aligned with budgeted expectations.

  • Optimize facility layout and assign work based on skills to maximize efficiency.
  • Manage labor, scheduling, and operational resources to meet turnaround times and financial targets. ("Manage all resources to achieve required turnaround times and expected financial performance…")
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, technology, and workflow.
  • Support annual budgeting and organizational planning.
  • Monitor and control facility costs and overall P&L performance.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, and Product Development on forecasting, manufacturability, and innovation.
  • Meet regularly with team leaders to review performance and provide feedback.
  • Prepare and deliver operational and administrative reports to senior leadership.
  • Provide input on strategic planning, personnel policies, and financial matters related to facility operations.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises up to 10 employees and holds overarching responsibility for all personnel within the facility. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in electronics manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience ("…a minimum of ten (5) years electronics manufacturing experience; or an equivalent combination…")
  • Strong understanding of strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and leadership principles
  • Experience working within ISO-certified environments; IPC 610 or J-STD certifications are a plus
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (EPICOR preferred), spreadsheets, databases, and general business software
