General Production Worker

Job Title: Production Machine Operator ( Monday through Thursday 12- hour shifts)


Job Description


This role focuses on operating and setting up packaging machinery that fills, cuts, seals, and packages sauce packets and containers in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. You will handle machine setup, monitor production runs, troubleshoot issues such as jams, and ensure products meet quality and safety standards while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The position requires comfort working at heights, lifting up to 40 lbs, and working on multiple shifts to support continuous production.


Responsibilities


+ Set up packaging machinery, including auto packagers, cutters, and fillers, to prepare for production runs.

+ Add new film and rolls to packaging machinery and adjust hoses, blades, and other machine components as needed.

+ Enter and adjust production orders and runs in the computer to ensure accurate and efficient operation.

+ Operate machinery that fills, cuts, seals, and packages sauce packets and sauce containers according to specifications.

+ Monitor machines during operation, identify issues, and manage and clear jams to minimize downtime.

+ Unclog machinery and ensure smooth product flow throughout the production process.

+ Inspect products for defects and verify that all finished goods meet quality and safety standards.

+ Connect hoses to tankers, kettles, and fillers to support mixing and packaging processes.

+ Climb ladders to access the top of machinery and work on mezzanines above machinery or kettles/tanks as required.

+ Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times, including proper sanitation, hygiene, and documentation.

+ Handle general production and packaging tasks such as packing, general labor, and material handling as needed.

+ Collaborate with team members and leads to maintain a safe, efficient, and clean production line.

+ Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper use of non-slip footwear and required protective attire.


Essential Skills


+ At least 1 year of experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment.

+ At least 1 year of packaging experience in a manufacturing or production setting.

+ At least 1 year of manufacturing experience, preferably in a food or packaging facility.

+ Hands-on experience with machine operation or machine operating in a production environment.

+ Ability to lift up to 40 lbs individually on a regular basis.

+ Comfort climbing ladders and working on mezzanines above machinery, kettles, or tanks.

+ Ability to operate and adjust packaging machinery, including auto packagers, cutters, and fillers.

+ Basic computer skills to enter and manage production orders and runs.

+ Attention to detail to check products for defects and maintain quality standards.

+ Willingness to follow GMP requirements and adhere to strict cleanliness and safety standards.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Bilingual communication skills.

+ Experience with blending and batch mixing processes.

+ Previous experience operating packaging machinery in a food or beverage environment.

+ Familiarity with general production, packing, and general labor tasks.

+ Strong mechanical aptitude for adjusting hoses, blades, and other machine components.

+ Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine jams and minor mechanical issues.

Work Environment


The facility is a very clean, well-maintained, and temperature-controlled GMP production environment that focuses on packaging sauces. The production floor includes packaging machinery, kettles and tanks for mixing, and multiple packaging lines and inventory areas. While the facility is generally comfortable, it can feel slightly warmer around the machinery and kettles used for cooking. The environment is described as pleasant and smells very good, contributing to a positive workplace experience. Multiple shifts are available, including weekday and weekend schedules, offering flexibility for different lifestyles. Employees work around automated packaging equipment and are expected to follow strict GMP standards. The dress code requires wearing hairnets and, when applicable, beard nets, along with no jewelry, work pants, and non-slip boots to maintain safety and hygiene.


Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broadview, IL.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.05/hr.


Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
