Job Description

This role focuses on safely loading and filling tanker trucks and smaller containers with chemical products at an enclosed filling station. You will operate filling controls, handle hoses and equipment, and follow detailed work orders to ensure the correct chemicals and quantities are loaded. The position is hands-on and physically active, requiring frequent movement on stairs and platforms while wearing full protective gear to maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Work in the loading bay and enclosed filling station to fill tanker trucks with specified chemical products according to work orders.
• Review work orders and select the correct chemicals in the controls room to match each tanker driver’s requirements.
• Apply all required safety gear and personal protective equipment, including rubber boots, rubber overalls, rubber jacket, hard helmet, and full face shield before any filling activity.
• Transport and position large hoses to the top of the mezzanine, use the lift gate to access the top of the tanker, and securely connect hoses to the tanker.
• Return to the filler room to operate controls and run chemicals into tanker trucks, ensuring accurate volumes and proper flow.
• Monitor fill levels and select the correct amount of product going into each tanker, then tag and seal the top of the tanker to confirm the correct chemicals have been loaded.
• Manually fill 5-gallon buckets, drums, or totes to the required weight, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Perform manual material handling tasks; use a forklift only on a limited basis when needed.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) procedures in a manufacturing production environment, particularly in chemical, pharmaceutical, food, or medical settings.
• Accurately document work activities, including outbound shipments and quality checks on filled containers or products.
• Use computer systems to enter information, pull orders, track orders, and maintain accurate records of filling and shipping activities.
• Support operations primarily at the Rosemount site, with flexibility to assist at Saint Paul sites as needed.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and PPE requirements, ensuring chemicals are handled safely and risks are minimized.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area in the filling station and loading bay.
• Work a 1st shift schedule and remain flexible to work overtime when required to meet production and shipping demands.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing production environment following GMP procedures, ideally in pharmaceutical, food, medical, or chemical industries.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience documenting work activities, such as outbound shipments or quality checks on manufactured parts or products.
• Strong computer skills to accurately enter data, pull orders, track orders, and manage documentation in digital systems.
• Experience with warehouse operations, including loading and production work in an industrial setting.
• Hands-on experience with chemical handling and filler operator duties in a production or warehouse environment.
• Ability to work analytically, follow detailed work orders, and ensure correct chemicals and quantities are selected and loaded.
• Capability to perform manual material handling tasks and work safely with hoses, containers, and related equipment.
• Flexibility to work primarily at the Rosemount site and support additional nearby sites as needed.
• Willingness and ability to work 1st shift (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) and to work overtime when required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Worked in warehouse, packaging, or production worker roles in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with forklift operation, even if usage is infrequent in this role.
• Experience working in union or contract-to-union environments is beneficial.
• Comfort working in a labor-intensive setting that involves frequent walking on stairs and elevated platforms.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety when working with chemical products and PPE.
• Ability to follow written procedures and work orders with accuracy and consistency.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a chemical manufacturing plant within an enclosed filling station and loading bay. The role is physically active and can be laborious, involving frequent walking up and down a mezzanine staircase and working on elevated platforms to connect hoses to tanker trucks. Employees wear full protective attire, including rubber boots, rubber overalls, rubber jacket, hard helmet, and full face shield whenever filling trucks or handling chemicals. When proper safety equipment and PPE are worn, the chemicals are handled safely and are not considered dangerous. Most tasks are performed manually, with only occasional forklift use, and work is conducted on a 1st shift schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility for overtime as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Apple Valley, MN.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
