We are seeking a full-time General Psychiatrist to join the Adult Inpatient Services at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW), a leading freestanding behavioral health hospital in downtown DC. This role offers flexible compensation with a highly competitive productivity bonus structure, enabling you to focus on delivering excellent clinical care within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Quick Facts
Employment Type: Full-time (employed) with independent contractor option considered
Schedule / Hours: Inpatient clinical hours with no mandatory weekend on-call.
Call: Weekend call approximately one weekend per month
Patient Volume: Adult inpatient population with diverse psychiatric needs
Location: Washington, DC (easily accessible via Metrorail and public transportation)
Practice Setting: Freestanding psychiatric hospital with partial and intensive outpatient programs
Support / Care Team: Multidisciplinary clinical staff, physicians, and administration
EMR / Technology: Electronic Medical Records utilized for documentation
Responsibilities
Conduct initial evaluations and assessments of adult psychiatric inpatients
Lead the treatment team and provide daily patient care in the acute inpatient program
Collaborate closely with other psychiatrists, APPs, nursing staff, and support personnel
Provide comprehensive documentation of clinical care in the EMR system
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary plus highly competitive bonus structure
Salary: $275,000 $350,000 plus sign-on and relocation bonuses

Qualifications
MD/DO degree from an accredited medical program
Board Certified in Psychiatry
Active or eligible medical license to practice in Washington, DC
Minimum of 3-5 years clinical practice experience
Meets credentialing requirements set by the facility and UHS
