Position Overview

We are looking for safety-focused, hardworking individuals to join our road construction team as apprentices. In this role, you will work under the guidance of experienced road construction professionals and gain hands-on exposure to a variety of field tasks. This position is designed to help you build skills in general road construction while supporting daily crew operations.

Work activities may include:

• Raking traffic control • Site cleanup • Operating small tools and equipment

Key Responsibilities

Shoveling and raking materials. Sweeping and general site cleanup. Steam cleaning. Painting. Tire work. Assisting mechanics with basic tasks. Lifting, pushing, and pulling materials and tools. Operating small equipment as trained.

Qualifications

To perform this role successfully, individuals must be able to complete all essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior construction experience is a plus but not required.

Work Requirements

Ability to read and understand instructions, memos, and short correspondence. Ability to write simple correspondence. Basic math skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to follow detailed written or verbal directions. Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently. Ability to use job-specific computer systems for ticketing and communication. May be required to complete drug testing and physical abilities testing. Must have a valid drivers license.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal or handle equipment. Occasionally required to stand, walk, kneel, crawl, bend, and reach overhead. Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs occasionally. Must have adequate vision for close work, distance, color perception, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

May be exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving machinery, outdoor weather, and extreme temperatures. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
