Maverick Car Company is building a different kind of automotive business.
We believe buying a vehicle can be a genuinely great experience; not because we've made the traditional dealership experience slightly better, but because we've re-designed the experience around people, relationships, and trust.
That starts with building an exceptional team, creating processes that make it easy to do the right thing, and developing relationships that extend well beyond the day a vehicle is purchased.
We're looking for a General Sales Manager who can help architect that experience while building the team and systems capable of delivering it consistently.
This role leads the Sales, Internet, and Finance teams and serves as a key member of our Leadership Team.
Your Purpose
This role is about much more than hitting a monthly sales number.
You're responsible for creating the talented team, disciplined systems, intentional culture, and remarkable client experience that make Maverick what it is and make great results repeatable.
You'll think strategically about where Maverick is going and what the team will need to get there, but you'll also be deeply involved in the day-to-day development of the people making it happen.
You might spend one morning working through a quarterly strategy and the afternoon coaching a Client Advisor, developing a Finance Manager, or redesigning a process that's creating friction for clients.
You need to love both sides of that equation.
The job isn't to do everything yourself. It's to build a team that gets better, stronger, and more capable because you're there.
What This Role Is Really About
Build, lead, and develop high-performing Sales, Internet, and Finance teams.
Develop existing talent, recruit great people, create accountability, and help team members build meaningful careers.
We're looking to grow our current team of 8 toward 12–14 exceptional people who love where they work and are proud of how they treat clients.
The client experience is one of the primary reasons this role exists.
You'll continuously design and improve how clients experience Maverick from their first inquiry through delivery and building the relationship until its time for their next ride.
You'll ask: Where are we creating friction? How can we make this easier? How can we make this more human? How do we build deep client relationships from here?
Then you'll turn those answers into processes, training, and behaviors the team can consistently execute.
The goal isn't simply, "I'd buy here again." It's: "I’d never buy anywhere else and I'm telling my friends about this place."
This is a coaching-heavy leadership role.
You'll work one-on-one with team members, lead training, develop leaders, coach performance, and help people improve their sales skills, communication, time management, follow-up, and relationship-building.
We're looking for a master teacher and coach who genuinely enjoys helping people become better.
As a member of the Leadership Team, you'll help shape company strategy, annual and quarterly priorities, and the future direction of Maverick.
But strategy only matters when it becomes execution.
You'll be expected to translate big-picture decisions into clear priorities, processes, expectations, and daily action within the Sales Team.
We're not looking for someone to maintain the status quo.
You'll use data, client feedback, team feedback, and observation to identify what's working, what's not, and what we can do better.
If you naturally ask "Is there a better way?" and then have the discipline to build it, you'll fit well here.
What Success Looks Like
Success isn't simply a bigger sales number but growth is absolutely part of the opportunity.
With a relatively small Sales Team, Maverick has already reached 135 vehicles sold in a month, and we believe we're capable of significantly more. We see a path from 135 to 150, 200, and beyond; not by simply asking people to sell more, but by building the talented team, disciplined systems, intentional culture, and remarkable client experience that can support that kind of growth.
The right leader will help us scale without losing what makes Maverick different.
You'll know you're succeeding when:
Leaders are being developed internally
Great people are joining, growing, and staying
The client experience remains exceptional as we scale
Sales, Internet, and Finance operate as one team
Processes make it easier to do the right thing
Conversion, profitability, repeat, and referral business improve
Sales volume grows sustainably without sacrificing the experience
Accountability exists without creating a fear-based culture
Recurring problems are solved instead of repeatedly patched
The team becomes increasingly capable without everything depending on you
We aren't looking for someone to simply help us sell more cars. We're looking for someone who can help us build the team and infrastructure that allows us to grow significantly while becoming even better at what we already do.
Your success is ultimately measured by the people, systems, growth, and client experience you build.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a team builder, coach, strategist, and operator.
You should bring:
A proven track record building and leading successful sales teams; we care more about what you've accomplished than simply how many years you've been in the industry
Strong coaching and teaching ability
Progressive leadership and management experience
Strategic thinking around sales, process, training, and client experience
Exceptional organization and time management
Strong communication and emotional intelligence
The ability to balance care, accountability, and results
A hands-on leadership style
A genuine desire to build something better than what already exists in the industry
If your ideal role is maintaining a high-performing status quo, this probably isn't it.
We're looking for someone who wants to build something special.
