REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a high school diploma.
- High degree of initiative and ability to adapt to new tasks, sometimes spontaneously.
- Demonstrated judgment, communication and cooperation with staff, students and public.
- Proficiency in the use of technology applications, including Google Workspace.
- Ability to be a productive, contributing member of the building team; including working with a variety of professional staff with diverse teaching styles.
- Possess the ability to maintain student confidentiality.
- Must be willing to monitor/assist with student related health issues.
- Must attend and successfully complete CPI training ASAP (at the next available training in district/county) and maintain certification annually with annual training to be offered in August.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide general building and teacher support, such as, but not limited to, preparing educational materials, assisting with lessons and daily classroom activities, assisting with paperwork such as reports, and preparing the classroom setting to promote a healthy learning environment.
- Ensure classroom safety standards are met at all times and assist with maintaining a clean and safe learning environment.
- Perform medical tech duties such as catheterization, suctioning of tracheotomies, health screenings, or other medical procedures requiring specific training. The Dstrict shall provide all training necessary to perform the specific medical tech procedures, which shall be renewed on a yearly basis.
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced and outlined by the teacher.
- Monitor student work, track student progress, and supervise curriculum-based testing.
- Assist identified students with specific personal and physical needs.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and gymnasium, or on field trips.
- Perform assigned non-instructional classroom duties.
- Serve as a source of information and assist any substitute teacher assigned to a class.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
SALARY:
In accordance with the current West Bloomfield Paraeducator Association master agreement
HOURS:
6.75 hours per day (full time)
