Description

Supervises personnel engaged in custodial and other building maintenance services for various Metro locations.

Examples of Duties

  • Plans, creates and monitors custodial maintenance work for various Metro locations
  • Travels to various Metro facilities to monitor work performance of subordinates
  • Oversees provision of routine repairs and general maintenance of buildings, office equipment, and furniture
  • Recommends and schedules repairs of equipment, furnishings, and facilities
  • Maintains inventory of custodial supplies and equipment
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, purchase verifications, and data for budget preparation
  • Provides safety training to staff
  • Inspects work in progress and completed projects
  • Utilizes a computer-based information system to process work orders, incidents, timesheets, and material requests
  • Supervises, trains, and motivates a multi-skilled staff in a variety of locations; conducts performance evaluations
  • Accounts for subordinates and personal compliance with all of Metros safety rules, polices, and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred

Experience

  • Three years of relevant experience performing building maintenance or custodial work with a minimum of one year of experience working in a lead or supervisory-level capacity in building maintenance or custodial work

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements

  • Valid California Class C Driver License
  • Must have completed or be able to complete Metros pre-supervisory training within probationary period
  • Exposure to weather and physical hazards
  • Frequent travel to other Metro locations
  • Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye, and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
  • May be assigned to work varied shifts and weekends

Years of Service Annual Accrual

Pension Plan - PTSC retirement plan is the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). Vesting is five (5) years. Minimum retirement age is 52, based on the 2% at 62 formula.
