    JOB DESCRIPTION

    JOB TITLE: General Services Technician/Job Coach-Main Center

    DEPARTMENT: Day Services

    SUPERVISOR: Day Services Assistant Director

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Work Center General Services Technician shall be responsible for insuring that the facility or area of assignment is clean, safe, and comfortable. This includes the dietary serving of food to the members and carrying out other dietary/kitchen duties.

    This position will serve as a backup/support staff to the Supported Employment Coordinator and Day Services Assistant Director. This position will involve working with the members in both the Day Hab and Supported Employment Program.

    MAIN DUTIES

    1. Member Protection:

    1. Follow all policy and procedures that prohibit mistreatment, neglect, or abuse of members (report all instances or suspected instances).

      1. Members are not subjected to physical, verbal, sexual, or psychological abuse of punishments (adherence to approved member management techniques).

    1. Food, Nutrition, and Meal Services:

    1. Food is served in accordance with standard procedures and diet orders.

      1. Appropriate utensils are provided.

      2. Meals are served at appropriate specific times.

      3. Appropriate/authorized substitutions are available/provided.

    1. Active Treatment:

    1. Demonstrate the skills and technique necessary to administer interventions to manage the inappropriate behavior of members (proper member management, no over use of reliance on reprimands and/or negative statements).

      1. Follow the members behavior/work programs.

      2. Participate in the interdisciplinary team process (includes effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and staff).

      3. Significant member events are documented and member response, as specified in individual and group programs, is documented (e.g. progress notes, shift logs, behavior management logs, and program data sheet cards).

    1. Physical Environment/Health:

    1. Ensure that all areas of work facilities are clean.

      1. Ensure all staff are familiar with the use of the facilities fire protections features and emergency plans/procedures.

      C. Ensure proper storage and inventories of all dietary, cleaning, restrooms, and changing rooms, etc.

    D. Report illness/injury.

    E. Maintain furniture and furnishings in good repair.

    F. Ensure that the facility provides a clean and sanitary environment to avoid sources of transmission of infections.

    G. Ensure bathrooms and kitchen are free of odor, watermarks, and soil.

    H. Ensure that windows and mirrors are free of dirt and carpets are vacuumed/shampooed when needed.

    I. Ensure walls, ceilings, vents, table bases, chairs, and other surfaces are clean as well as kitchen sink, counter, refrigerator, cooler, etc.

    J. Ensure that trash/waste is discarded of disposed of properly and trashcans are clean and in good repair.

    1. Training

    1. Participate in all training that enables performance of duties effectively, efficiently, and competently (e.g. – staff meetings, orientation, in-services, etc.).

      1. Demonstrate the skills and techniques necessary to administer interventions to manage the inappropriate behavior of members (proper client management, no over use or reliance on reprimands and/or negative statements).

      2. Demonstrate the skills necessary to implement the individual program plans for each member.

    1. General Process:

    1. Implement company policies/procedures as specified.

      1. Maintain lines of communication.

      C. Maintain a neat/clean appearance to serve as appropriate role model.

    D. Participate in other activities assigned or directed.

    E. Work daily schedule, reporting for work on time (complete request for time off, appropriate use of time card.

    F. Develop, maintain, and foster a positive environment between staff and members, and staff to staff.

    G. Follow all oral and written communication.

    H. Interact appropriately with members according to policies and procedures set forth by Mid-Step Services and serve as an appropriate role model. Engage in member training where required or directed.

    I. Maintain confidentiality of members, member records, and conferences.

    Supported Employment

    1. Work with the individual employed members to maintain employment in the community.
    2. Track employee progress. Maintain documentation as current record.
    3. Act as a liaison for the individuals served with all related agencies/businesses.
    4. Follow all employer’s directives, rules, and policies when at the work site.
    5. Successfully complete all required training.
    6. Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Must have a valid Chauffeurs driver’s license and meet insurance requirements to drive.

    2. Associates degree or two years working with individuals with disabilities or working in a related field with individuals with disabilities.

    3. Hold nationally recognized certification and job training and coaching within 2 years of hire.

    4. Complete 9.5 hours of employment services training through Relias within 6 months of hire.

    5. Must possess good verbal and written skills.

    6. Must possess basic reading, writing, and math skills.

    7. Must possess basic computer skills including MS Office and MS Word.

    8. Must be approved to work by the Iowa Department of Human Services if one or more of the following exist: prior convictions, child abuse registry report, and/or dependent adult abuse registry report.

    9. Must not be on Medicare/Medicaid fraud registry.

    10. Individuals with blood borne pathogen diseases cannot be employed in any direct care position due to risk of disease exposure to our members.

    11. Must have no restrictions on the ability to lift.
