Job Opportunity: General Sugar Packer
Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a General Sugar Packer located at the Bay City Factory, 2600 S. Euclid Ave, Bay City, MI 48706.
Job Summary
Employees holding this classification will package sugar to our customers specifications while satisfying all regulatory and Safe Quality Food requirements. All General Packaging employees must have the ability to take fork-truck training classes and drive when required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Must be capable of running the consumer packaging equipment at set rate.
- Must be able to perform quality checks as needed to verify all finished products meet customer requirements.
- Must be able to complete necessary documentation required for all operations being performed.
- Must be able to package consumer bags into customer boxes at a rate of 35bpm.
- Must be able to effectively operate and perform all tasks necessary on sugar bundling equipment.
- Must be able to stack finished product on pallets within machine cycle rates.
- Must demonstrate good communication skills by reporting all problems to the team leader or other team members so that they can be resolved.
- Must be able to perform all assigned tasks in a safe manner.

Position Qualifications
- Previous work experience in a production environment is preferred.
- Able to perform basic computer skills on a daily basis.
- Must be able to learn, follow, and promote all SQF & GMP quality system guidelines and safety practices.
- Previous quality systems experience is preferred.
- Must be physically able to lift up to 50lbs and work in hot conditions.
- May be required to be licensed and drive a fork truck as needed.
- Must be able to work any shift and weekend overtime as required.
- High School diploma is preferred.
