General Superintendent

LHH is partnering with a well-established electrical contractor in New Mexico to identify an experienced General Superintendent. This is a senior field leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple projects and supervising Superintendents while ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and profitability across all assigned work.
Position Overview
The General Superintendent provides leadership and direction to Superintendents and field teams across new construction, service, and technology projects. This role works closely with Project Management, Estimating, and Warehouse teams to drive successful project execution, maintain operational controls, and support consistent field performance.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership and Oversight
Oversee field operations across multiple active projects
Provide direct leadership, guidance, and support to assigned Superintendents
Conduct regular project and performance reviews to assess schedule, cost, and resource utilization
Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet schedules and prevent labor overruns
Operational Management
Coordinate labor assignments to align skill levels with project requirements
Support planning for materials, tools, equipment, and labor to maintain budget and schedule compliance
Review and monitor project documentation including daily logs, look-ahead schedules, pre-task plans, and material lists
Oversee rental equipment usage to control costs and ensure availability
Quality, Safety, and Compliance
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with NEC standards, state and local codes, and contractual requirements
Conduct regular jobsite inspections and recommend corrective actions as needed
Support enforcement of company safety programs, OSHA standards, and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with Human Resources on compliance matters, training, and employee relations issues
Collaboration and Coordination
Partner with Project Management to review budgets, forecasts, and field performance
Assist with project startups, change orders, inspections, RFIs, and scheduling coordination
Work closely with subcontractors and other trades to maintain scope, schedule, and quality expectations
Support estimating and bid review efforts as needed
Team Development and Workforce Support
Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and development of field staff
Support performance management, coaching, and corrective action when necessary
Promote a respectful, ethical, and accountable work environment
Qualifications
Minimum of five years in a supervisory role overseeing electrical projects
Minimum of ten years of hands-on electrical installation experience
Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Required Certifications and Credentials
State-issued Journeyman Electrician license required (New Mexico)
Valid state drivers license required
OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E preferred
CPR and First Aid training preferred
Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
