Job Description
The Responsibility of a General Superintendent:
- Provide operational oversight and support across multiple active construction projects.
- Mentor, coach, and develop Superintendents and field staff.
- Identify project risks, gaps, and execution challenges before they impact performance.
- Support project teams with means and methods, sequencing, scheduling, logistics, and subcontractor coordination.
- Assist with staffing coverage during vacations, turnover, or peak workload periods.
- Partner with project teams to resolve subcontractor performance issues and maintain project momentum.
- Drive consistency in field execution, safety, quality, and schedule performance.
- Conduct site visits across projects throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
- Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and scheduling tools to maintain project visibility.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing strategic recommendations to improve field operations.

The Successful Applicant
A successful General Superintendent should have:
- 10+ years of construction experience within a General Contractor environment.
- Previous experience as a Senior Superintendent, Lead Superintendent, or General Superintendent.
- Proven ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects, ideally 4-5 at a time.
- Experience with hospitality, restaurant, food & beverage, commercial interiors, restoration, rehabilitation, or historic preservation projects.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods.
- Demonstrated success mentoring and developing field personnel.
- Ability to build relationships and influence teams without micromanaging.
- Strong subcontractor management and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
