Summary:

Acts in support and oversight of the Project Superintendent, focusing on long-range scheduling, planning, mentoring, and developing personnel and craft, leading decisions regarding type and quantity of resources needed to properly supervise projects, and ensuring implementation of Quality Management System. Provides proactive and positive enforcement of safety procedures and policies toward an achievable goal of zero incidents. Conforms to corporate policies and procedures, upholds ethical standards, and exemplifies corporate values with an emphasis on integrity and service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent Nabholz in business development efforts, including active participation in community and industry organizations, project interviews, and company events.
  • Practice proactive risk management to appropriately protect company assets.
  • In collaboration with EVP and Sr. Project Manager, compose Project Teams with skillsets, qualifications, and manpower adequate to meet project needs.
  • Provide active leadership in Preconstruction Phase of projects, from interview to final buy-out, anticipating project risks, and recommending risk mitigation.
  • Provide active leadership in the composition of general conditions estimates and self-perform bid packages, providing input regarding crew sizing, productivity, method of construction, etc.
  • Coordinate development of Project-Specific Safety Plan and ensure compliance with all Nabholz and OSHA safety policies.
  • Oversee field implementation of Quality Management Program, enforce quality control policies, and implement necessary changes.
  • Act as a resource to Project Superintendent in the long-range and short-term planning of Foreman and craft activities. Assist in recommendations regarding site logistics, methods of construction, sequencing, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, and work schedule.
  • Accept and review Project Superintendent's daily detailed reporting.
  • Maintain liaison with Owner, Design Team, Project Manager, Subcontractors, and local jurisdictions to ensure that work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule.
  • Maintain communications with Employee Services and/or Production departments to resolve disputes, requisition manpower, and correct safety issues, etc.
  • Mentor, train, and develop Superintendents and craftsmen in all aspects of their careers, providing proactive leadership and complete employee management.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of corporate policies and protocols in collaboration with EVP and General Superintendent peers, leveraging leadership to influence, and advance change.
  • This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes.
  • This position requires driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company or a company vehicle; therefore, the applicant must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, and immediately self-report convictions/violations/tickets to the DOT Compliance Specialist as per Company Policy. Any negative change in the status of the employee's driving record may result in the revocation of the employee's privilege to drive for the company.
  • All other tasks as assigned.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Career experience must include at least 15 years of supervision in commercial construction. Residential construction experience will not be considered.
  • Commercial construction experience must include construction means, methods, equipment, tools, work procedures, as well as advanced understanding of construction scheduling, and cost control.
  • Commercial construction experience must include control and supervision of large groups of craftsmen.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, team leadership, and motivation.
  • Must be willing and able to speak before groups of people in project interviews and other presentations.
  • OSHA 30-hour training.
  • Microsoft Office suite.
  • Scheduling software(s).
  • Provide team leadership, both internally and externally.
  • Actively promote safe execution of projects, with an achievable goal of zero jobsite incidents, and provide proactive leadership in all Nabholz safety initiatives.
  • Demonstrate business acumen to protect company assets.
  • Thorough understanding of architectural, civil, engineering plans, and specifications.
  • Maintain open, positive, and direct lines of communication among Owner, Design Team, Project Management, Project Superintendent, and Subcontractor Team.
  • Plan and lead effective and efficient meetings.
  • Proactively develop solutions to construction field issues that arise and ensure that solutions are appropriately communicated.
  • Create Master Schedule for project.
  • Proactively manage and drive construction schedules, engaging Subcontractor Team, Foremen, and other Site Superintendents to accurately create a master schedule as well as anticipate short-term and long-term schedule updates.

  • Continuously sit, stand, or walk.
  • Bend, squat, climb stairs, or ladders.
  • Lift occasionally up to 50 pounds.
