General Supervisor - Molecular Technologist with PGx testing experience (Part Time)
Our client located in Houston; TX (Texas Medical Center area) is in need for an experience Molecular Technologist for this growing organization. This role will report to the Lab Director.
Schedule: Part-Time, on-site (20 hours/week)
Lab Type: High Complexity Clinical Laboratory (CLIA)
QUALIFICATIONS
General Supervisor must meet at least one of the below CLIA pathways for High Complexity Testing:
- Qualified Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor of high complexity testing
- Licensed MD/DO/DPM, or hold a Doctoral, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemical, or laboratory science field, plus at least one (1) year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing
- Qualified as Testing Personnel for high complexity testing, plus at least two (2) years of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing
Preferred Credentials:
- MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), MLS(AMT), or equivalent clinical laboratory certification
- MB(ASCP) (Molecular Biology specialty certification) or molecular pathology credentials a plus
- Texas licensure or applicable state credentialing where required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide accessible support to testing personnel at all times testing is performed, including on-site, telephone, and electronic consultation
- Deliver day-to-day supervision of personnel performing high complexity molecular testing
- Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained
- Resolve technical problems and ensure corrective actions are taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications
- Ensure patient test results are not reported until all corrective action has been completed and systems are functioning properly
- Provide orientation and annual performance evaluations for all testing personnel
- Fulfill responsibilities as delegated by the Laboratory Director and/or Technical Supervisor
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Hands-on high complexity molecular testing experience (PCR, qPCR, NGS, or similar platforms)
- Supervisory or lead technologist experience in a clinical or reference laboratory setting
- Working knowledge of CLIA regulatory standards for high complexity laboratories
- Houston area residency or ability to commute to the Texas Medical Center
Strongly Preferred:
- Pharmacogenomics (PGx) testing experience
- Background in a diagnostic or reference laboratory environment
- Comfort operating in a lean, growth-stage laboratory setting
