Saint Alphonsus Medical Center (SAMC) - Ontario has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon to be part of a vibrant and growing multispecialty group practice located in Ontario, Oregon.

Become part of a physician led 600+ provider multispecialty group with a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care. This full-spectrum general surgery community practice offers rewarding surgery opportunities, including endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures, balanced with a rural-paced lifestyle. The Practice is located in a clinic space adjacent to the hospital.  SAMC-Ontario is a Level IV Trauma Center with 50 beds and 4 operating suites plus endoscopy, new laparoscopic equipment, advanced imaging capabilities and award-winning clinical services. Outreach opportunities available.

Support includes 24/7 CRNA support for anesthesia; regional network of surgical subspecialties including surgical oncology, colorectal surgery, upper GI surgery, orthopedics, ENT, and gynecology; Local primary care and specialty clinics, medical oncology; Hospital-based imaging services: 24/7 radiology department; in-house coverage for general radiology and CT; after hours call coverage for Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine (NM); MRI; Breast Care Center; X-ray (DR image capture); and emergency department.

The schedule for this opportunity includes a traditional work week, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 32 hours of patient contact time which includes clinic, procedures, and consults. The call requirement is for ten days of call on average per month including at least one weekend at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Ontario. Incentive for additional call available.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
  • Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA general surgery residency program.
  • Board certification through the American Board of Surgery (ABS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS) - or obtain such certification within 7 years of employment.
  • Obtain Oregon and Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SAMC Ontario as well as other affiliated hospitals as needed
  • Valid controlled substance registration with Board of Pharmacy and DEA.
  • Interest in a broad-spectrum general surgery and endoscopy practice.
