General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) Opportunity – Dothan, Alabama

About the Position

An established, physician-led regional health system in Dothan, Alabama is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its General Surgery team. This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of one of the largest healthcare organizations in Southeast Alabama, serving patients throughout Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. The organization is known for its advanced surgical services, Level II Trauma Center, robotic surgery program, comprehensive cancer care, and commitment to exceptional patient outcomes.

Surgical experience is REQUIRED.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a collaborative team of surgeons providing comprehensive perioperative care, including:

• First assisting in the operating room
• Pre-operative and post-operative patient evaluations
• Inpatient rounding and consults
• Patient education and discharge planning
• Managing surgical patients throughout the continuum of care

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing with preparation as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) or
• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Active NCCPA certification for PAs
• RNFA certification is required for Nurse Practitioners
• Active Alabama license and DEA (or ability to obtain)
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Previous surgical experience required

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is highly individualized based on experience, surgical background, first assist experience, and other qualifications. Specific compensation details are provided following the initial interview.

Average Alabama Market Salary

• General Surgery NP / PA: Approximately $140,000–$150,000+ annually
• Experienced surgical APPs with first assist and call responsibilities often earn above this range.
