Position Description

This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to university systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, support carpentry, and painting. Pay for this position is $23.00 per hour. Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4 pm.

Major Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair work, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, support carpentry, and painting. • Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner. • Conduct routine inspections of campus buildings and systems. • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems. • Troubleshoot mechanical and building-related issues. • Assist with seasonal operations, snow removal, heat changeover, event setups, etc. • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and orderly condition. • Follow safety procedures and campus policies. • Support campus events as needed. • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and job specifications. • Assist other trades as needed.

Required Knowledge and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or trade certification preferred. 2-5 years of general maintenance experience, institutional or commercial preferred. Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and basic carpentry. Valid drivers license.

Other Qualifications

• Working knowledge of computers for tasks, including reading email, logging hours, and entering work order information. • Strong troubleshooting skills. • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and manage multiple projects. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Communicate effectively with supervisors and campus community members. • Ability to follow written and oral instructions. • Knowledge of a wide variety of tools and equipment. • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions.
