Service Technician

Are you passionate about solving complex technical challenges and delivering reliable service solutions?

Do you enjoy working with advanced technologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outcomes?

Partnering with the best

As the world leader in non-destructive testing (NDT), Waygate Technologies offers the broadest portfolio of industrial inspection solutions. Our solutions include radiography and computed tomography (CT), remote visual inspection, ultrasound, and eddy current technologies. We help ensure safety, quality, and productivity for customers across critical industries worldwide.

Fueling your passion

The Service Technician plays a key role in maintaining and restoring high-performance X-ray systems and subsystems. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a hands-on technical environment and are committed to delivering safe, accurate, and timely service solutions.

You will contribute to in-house repair operations, support field service activities, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, quality, and customer support teams to drive service excellence and customer satisfaction.

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing and repairing high-voltage X-ray generators, power supplies, control boards, and inverter modules.
  • Performing X-ray tube testing, conditioning, and evaluation, including vacuum integrity, filament, cathode, and anode checks.
  • Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and thermal issues using schematics, high-voltage diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
  • Executing preventive maintenance on generators, tubes, cooling systems, and interlock circuits.
  • Documenting repair activities, test results, parts usage, and failure analysis in detailed service reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with radiation safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and ESD protocols.
  • Supporting RMA evaluations, root-cause analysis, and refurbishment processes.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and assisting with customer communication regarding repair status, findings, and recommendations.
  • Supporting both in-house service operations and field assignments, including travel as required up to 30% domestic and international.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a technical diploma or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of high-voltage circuits, power electronics, transformers, and three-phase/single-phase systems.
  • Be able to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service manuals.
  • Have hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, high-voltage probes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Understand radiation safety principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Possess strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to work safely in environments involving high voltage and X-ray systems, including lifting up to 40–50 lbs.

Skills:

  • 2–5 years of experience servicing X-ray generators, X-ray tubes, or similar high-voltage imaging systems.
  • Experience in refurbishment, failure analysis, or component-level board repair.
  • Knowledge of cooling technologies such as oil, water, or forced air systems used in imaging equipment.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO 9001 or similar quality standards).
