Inova Genetic Counseling is looking for a dedicated Genetic Counselor to join the Team. This full-time role will be day-shift working Monday - Friday located in Fairfax, VA.
The Genetics Counselor develops pediatric or adult genetics counseling programs for high-risk patient populations. Provides clinical counseling and genetic testing services for individuals/families at risk for inherited diseases.

Genetic Counselor Responsibilities:
- Primarily serves as a clinical resource to the healthcare team.
- Performs inherited disease risk assessments and genetic risk assessments through review of family and medical histories primarily for cardiovascular genetic conditions
- Provides individualized genetic counseling and testing to patients/families identified at increased risk for inherited diseases.
- Facilitates patient awareness and access to research and clinical studies.
- Coordinates counseling sessions to meet the needs of patients, families and members of the healthcare team.
- Provides written communication to referring physicians regarding the consultation, test results and suggested medical management.
- Conducts ongoing promotion of genetics counseling program to physicians, patients and to the community by developing written materials and public presentations.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling
- Certification: Board eligible for certification by the ABGC upon hire
- Experience: Experience in genetic counseling with experience in inherited disease genetics or have recently completed a genetics clinical rotation.
